Season 1 of Beverly Hills, 90210, an American teen drama television series, began airing on October 4, 1990 on FOX television network. The season concluded on May 9, 1991 after 22 episodes.

The first season was aired Thursdays at 9/8c in the United States averaging 14.2 million viewers a week. The season was released on DVD as a six disc boxed set under the title of 'Beverly Hills, 90210: The Complete First Season on November 7, 2006 by CBS DVD.[1]

Crew

The season was produced by Paramount Television, 90210 Productions, Spelling Television and was aired on FOX Network in the U.S. The series was created by Darren Star, who acted as executive producer, Aaron Spelling also executive produced. Darren Star served as the seasons show runner.

Cast

The first season had eleven actors getting star billing. Shannen Doherty portrayed Brenda Walsh twin sister of Brandon Walsh, portrayed by Jason Priestley. Jennie Garth portrayed Kelly Taylor, a friend of Brenda Walsh. Ian Ziering portrayed the ex-boyfriend of Kelly Taylor, while Tori Spelling portrayed Donna Martin, one of Kelly Taylor's best friends. Brian Austin Green played David Silver (a freshman) and Douglas Emerson played his freshman friend. Gabrielle Carteris portrayed Andrea Zuckerman, a friend of Brandon Walsh. Luke Perry played Dylan McKay a new friend of Brandon's and a later love interest for Brenda. Carol Potter and James Eckhouse portrayed the Walsh parents, Cindy Walsh and Jim Walsh.

The character of Dylan McKay wasn't featured in the pilot but his run began in the second episode of season 1, The Green Room. After season 1, Perry's character was becoming more liked, where as Emerson's wasn't. So in season 2 producers came to the conclusion of killing off Emerson's character, Scott.

Brandon meets the school newspaper editor, Andrea, a hard-nosed, go-getter, with a bit of a secret. He also befriends Steve, a spoiled rich kid with a bad attitude. Meanwhile, Brenda makes friends with popular Kelly and fashionista Donna, and David and Scott roam the halls as freshmen.

Brandon meets Dylan McKay, a brooding classmate. As they become friends, Brandon learns that Dylan’s bad-boy act masks a hidden life that few people ever see. Brenda gets stood up by Kelly but stands up for herself and earns her new friend's respect.
